Hi, I’m Darren.

I’ve been obsessed with aquariums and fish since I was six years old. The neighbor girl up the street had a bunch of guppies in a 10-gallon tank – the guppies had babies and I was hooked! (Bad pun intended…)

When I was a little older, I would ride my bike 20 miles round-trip to a pet shop owned by a family friend. I hung out there every day in the summer and asked questions, read everything I could about aquariums. Later, my first job was working in that pet shop.

​

Now, I get to share my hobby and my joy with others as my full-time job, and I love doing what I do. I’ve been designing and caring for tanks professionally for over 20 years and I still look at them with wonder and amazement. Aquariums are always an adventure for me!

The aquariums I design, set up, and manage are a little bit like my children (if I had kids, I mean):  I love them all – but I like some better than others, and some behave better than others. But I always hope they all “marry” well and go to good homes.
